“Sierra chose the executives.”
“All three report directly to her.”
The plan became visible piece by piece.
Public humiliation.
A manufactured emotional collapse.
A rushed board vote.
A fraudulent transfer presented as a generous settlement after Dominic and Sierra had already taken control.
They had not improvised the kiss.
It was the final move in a conspiracy that had begun weeks earlier.
Eliza’s driver glanced at her through the rearview mirror.
She met his eyes and gave one calm instruction.
“Take me to Arthur’s office.”
At the theater, Dominic finally answered Arthur’s third call.
“What?” he snapped.
Arthur’s voice was almost polite.
“Good evening, Mr.
Stone.
This is formal notice that your voting proxy over the Vance Family Trust has been revoked effective immediately.”
Dominic stepped away from Sierra.
“You can’t revoke it without Eliza’s authorization.”
“She authorized it six minutes ago.”
Dominic’s free hand tightened around the edge of the podium.
Nearby, a reporter noticed the change in his face and raised her camera.
“What is this?” Dominic demanded.
“Event Horizon.”
The name silenced him.
He had heard it once, years earlier, during a tense conversation with Eliza’s father.
Dominic had asked why certain accounts remained inaccessible to him even after he became chief executive.
Her father had looked across the table and said, “Because every building needs an emergency exit.”
Dominic had dismissed it as an old man’s need for control.
Now Arthur continued.
“Your authority over Stone Capital’s protected accounts has been suspended.
Your access to the corporate aircraft, residences, discretionary credit facilities, and investment reserves is terminated pending review.”
Sierra moved closer.
“What is he saying?” she whispered.
Dominic turned away from her.
“You’re bluffing.”
“Check your accounts.”
Dominic opened his banking application.
The first corporate card showed restricted.
The second showed suspended.
The investment line he had used as though it were personal wealth returned an authorization error.
His breathing changed.
Arthur heard it.
“The board meeting at seven will proceed,” Arthur said.
“But the agenda has been amended.”
“To what?”
“Your removal for cause.”
Dominic ended the call.
Sierra stared at him.
“What happened?”
“Nothing.”
“You’re white.”
“I said nothing happened.”
She reached for his phone, but he pulled it away.
Around them, the gala continued in fractured pieces.
