Barcelona taught me something less comforting and more useful.
Generosity cannot create honesty where honesty is being deliberately withheld.
The most important thing I brought home was not a souvenir, a receipt, or even the folder full of evidence.
It was the memory of sitting alone in that hotel room after the call, wiping my face, and realizing that being abandoned did not make me powerless.
They had left with their suitcases believing I would be too hurt to think clearly.
They were wrong.
I did not need to ruin them.
I only needed to stop financing the version of my life in which they could hurt me and still expect access to everything I provided.
That was enough.
