Vineland was still circled in red.
For a moment I saw myself at the library again, pregnant and frightened, tracing withdrawals with a pen while the man I loved believed I was still safely inside his version of reality.
I folded the map once.
Then again.
And put it away.
I did not need to destroy it.
I did not need to keep staring at it either.
The most important thing the map had shown me was never where Garrett had been going.
It was the moment I finally trusted myself enough to follow the truth all the way there.
